A Big Reveal: The Cover For Our Next Novel

Hello Readers! We're back this week with news of an exciting development. We have locked in the cover design for our latest novel, An Educated Death . It took a little longer than expected, and we went through many different versions, but now we've settled on our book cover.  That means we can 1) share it with you, and 2) start the process of printing for publication.  Woohoo! This puts us about five weeks away from release.  We are absolutely pumped to get this book out to you and share the mystery with our readers.  But first, take a look at the cover, pictured below. John D. Macdonald: A Literary Giant of the Pulp Era

Hello Readers! Last week we explored the murder mystery genre, and because John D. Macdonald is one of our favorites in that realm we thought he deserved his own blog.  We're trying to get you excited about murder mysteries because our next novel (which is getting closer and closer to publication) "An Educated Death" has a lot of the classic hallmarks of the genre. We've been enjoying these kinds of stories for decades, and have always wanted to write one ourselves. One source of inspiration was Mr. Macdonald. Here's a little more info about him and what makes him special.  John Dann Macdonald was born in Sharon, PA in 1916. After graduating from Syracuse University, and then receiving an MBA from Harvard, Macdonald joined the Army as a first lieutenant just before WWII broke out. He served in the OSS in the China Burma India theater. If you've read his stories, you know that he set some of his earlier work in this region, and that was no coincidence. It's...

A Sneak-Peek at Our Next Novel

Hello there readers! We're getting closer to publishing our next novel and decided it was time to share a little bit about the title, the story, and the main character.  Are you ready? Here goes... Our next novel will be called, "An Educated Death".  We're venturing into a new genre--murder mystery. We were inspired by (and have always loved) the Travis McGee novels. The 21-book series by John D. Macdonald debuted in 1964 with "The Deep Blue Good-by", featuring a hard-boiled detective who lives on a houseboat that he won in a poker game. He's a beach bum that'll help you find whatever it is you're looking for, as long as he can have half.   Our idea was to develop a character who had given up on life due to a personal tragedy but starts caring again after getting sucked into a web of corruption, fraud, and murder.
