We're back, did you miss us?
Hello dear readers,
How are you?
How have you been?
How are the kids?
It's been too long!
That's our fault.
But let's not focus on the past. That's over with. We're here now and that's what matters, right?
We're back to share some info on what's ahead, and recap a wonderful event we attended earlier this month in San Diego.
First, let's talk about what's ahead.
We've a couple things in the works, and we don't know which will happen first. We are developing plans to create two more audiobooks of our last two novels, An Educated Death and Ascension: Kelahya Unbound. There's lots to be decided there (like who will narrate), but we know we want audiobooks. Our first three novels have been wonderful as audiobooks, which has encouraged us to keep going with it.

Planning an audio version of our fourth baby |
We also want to continue our Justin Pierce character from An Educated Death. We always thought there was potential for a detective series, and we had that in mind when writing it. Without spoiling the ending, if you read the novel you know the possibilities there...

There are more Justin Pierce stories to tell |
Thirdly, we also want to stay involved in the expansive universe we created for Ascension. There's so much mythology we could explore. It can actually feel overwhelming at times. But there are multiple opportunities for prequels or totally fresh stories from the various planets that appeared in the original, and we have to figure out what's next from that world.
So that's what's keeping us busy these days.
Oh, and also, the San Diego Writer's Festival!

This was a great festival! |
What a fantastic time we had there earlier this month.
In its sixth year, the festival featured some high powered guests. New York Times Best-Selling Author and Producer Tembi Locke, Ed Begley Jr (A Mighty Wind, Best in Show, and literally 100 other movies), and thriller writer Hank Phillipi Ryan.
In addition to the keynote speakers, there were ample workshops to choose from. We were especially into the workshop on crafting psychological thrillers and the one on marketing for people who loathe marketing. Plus Taiko drummers! (Who doesn't love Taiko drummers?)
And we sold a ton of books! We met lots of fun folk and peddled our wares to the masses. There had to be well over 3,000 people there. All and all it was a great time, and since we're skipping the LA Times Festival of Books this year, this was our large scale festival experience for 2025. It did not disappoint.
