Looking Back on 2024

Hello Dear Readers!

We've come to the end of another year.

2024 was a heck of a ride, wasn't it?

For our final blog of the year, we're going to take a quick look back and do a brief "year in review".

"The past is a place of reference, not a place of residence; the past is a place of learning, not a place of living."

Why yes, celebrated author Roy T. Bennett, that's exactly right! Let's not dwell on it, let's just revisit briefly.

The year started with us working as hard as we possibly could on finishing and publishing our latest novel. We had a tough time getting the cover art worked out which set us back a bit, but luckily by mid March we published "An Educated Death". This is our first murder mystery novel featuring Justin Pierce, but hopefully not our last. We love the idea of a series featuring the reluctant private eye and his trusty sidekick Demetrio. If you haven't had a chance to check it out yet, you can do so here.

Give it a read, you won't be disappointed!

Right after we published "An Educated Death", we exhibited all our novels at the LA Times Festival of Books. What an experience that was! A two-day extravaganza of music, food trucks, lots and lots of books, spoken word, lectures and workshops, and more. It was the largest event we've ever been a part of, and we were excited to meet so many people (and sell so many books!).

Highlight of the year at the LA Times Festival of Books

In June, we released the audiobook version of "Jackal in the Mirror", the third novel in our Perils of a Reluctant Psychic series. Now the whole series is available for listening. Here's where you can find them on Audible. We were lucky to work with the super talented narrator Jorjeana Marie for all three novels, and we couldn't be happier with the result.

Listen to the entire series now!

In October, we participated in another book fair closer to home. Write On, Oceanside! is a yearly favorite of ours. Although smaller than the LA Times Festival of Books, it's still quite large and offers a lot of the same opportunities. We were thrilled to connect with our local community, sell books, and raise money for aspiring writers to get collegiate scholarships.

That was about it for us work-wise in 2024. Besides all the writing, of course.

We went through our blogs and checked the stats. Our most popular blog of 2024 was our endorsement of three great mystery novels that came out in 2023. We've been immersing ourselves in the genre, and really enjoyed reading the cream of the crop. You can check that blog out here. A close second was the blog revealing the cover of our latest novel, and the announcement of it being published. So, yay!

Our least popular blog was the most recent one with fun facts about December. Makes sense, it just came out. Hasn't had a lot of time to garner tons of views. We'll get there.

We are so very grateful for you, dear reader. Thanks for following our writing journey. Hoping the Holidays are merry and bright, and that 2025 brings lots of kindness and joy to you and yours. We'll see you in the new year!

With love and gratitude and lots of jolly good cheer,
