Behind the Pen Name: Meet the Dynamic Duo--VD Povall
Hello Readers,
We thought this week would be a good time to share a little more information about ourselves.
Our pen name is V. & D. Povall, and we also go by "2authors". The "V" stands for Victoria, and the "D" stands for David. We're a married couple who have always loved writing together and began to publish novels recently. We'd been pursuing and practicing writing and the arts our whole lives.
David grew up speaking Spanish and English together, living for years in Mexico. He traveled all over the country and even picked up the Aztec language of Nahuatl. He's been in countless films, television shows, and commercials dating back to his teenage years--in both Spanish and English. He's written poetry, short stories, screenplays, and now with V, five novels. He was even nominated for the Mexican equivalent of an Oscar!
Victoria grew up speaking French, Spanish, and English. She was born in Mexico and grew up surrounded by artists and storytellers. Her father was the Director of the Classical Theater of Mexico City, and later became the Artistic Director of the Royal Theater in Spain, while her French mother was a well-known costume designer. Helping her father and his friends write, stage, and critique plays and novels propelled her into a lifelong practice that combined teaching and storytelling.
We were lucky enough to have studied writing with Ray Bradbury in the 1990s, and adopted some of his techniques--most notably we keep a notebook by our bed, and as soon as we wake up we jot down whatever's in our heads. (If you'd like to read more about our time with Ray, we wrote about it here: https://www.facebook.com/notes/3646790462027328/ )
That's all for now friends, thanks again for following us.
Oh, and we finally got on Instagram! So now you can find us there @vd_povall , on Twitter/X @2authors, and Facebook https://www.facebook.com/2authors/
Until next time,
~2authors
