2authors Out and About this Autumn

Summer was our best season: it was sleeping on the back screened porch in cots, or trying to sleep in the treehouse; summer was everything good to eat; it was a thousand colors in a parched landscape...

Hello readers!

August is drawing to a close, September is upon us. Kids are back in school. Life rolls along.

All is well with us. The end of summer continues to be quiet and calm, just as we like it.

Where's my hammock?

However, things will be picking up in the fall. We've been asked to participate in another literary festival--not quite as huge as the LA Times Festival of Books, but it's still pretty substantial. It's called "Write On, Oceanside!" and takes place in, you guessed it, Oceanside, CA. This year Write On, Oceanside happens on October 5th.

The festival is hosted by the Oceanside Cultural Arts Association (OCAA) and Oceanside Public Library, with the goal of celebrating and inspiring local authors. It has grown into one of the largest literary fairs in the country.

The OCAA's mission is to "broaden the cultural, artistic, and performing arts in Oceanside and its surrounding communities." They use proceeds from their events to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors pursuing artistic and performing arts degrees.

The festival will feature workshops, readings, and other activities. Authors like us will be there with signed books to sell. We'll have five novels for sale, including our latest murder mystery, An Educated Death. As we get closer to the date, we'll get a little more specific on what's going down.

Get your signed copy this October!

Longtime readers will remember that we participated in Write On, Oceanside! last year, and had a great time despite the rain. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this year. One of the coolest features of last year's event was having a selection of our novel read by local high school students.

If you're around SoCal this October, save the date, and come see us!

That's all for now.

Until next time,
